James Washington

 
James R. Washington III, a Certified Public Accountant, is an associate at Ajubita, Leftwich & Salzer, L.L.C.  He received his law degree, summa cum laude, from Loyola University College of Law, New Orleans, Louisiana, where he earned numerous law excellence awards, was a member of Moot Court and the Loyola Law Review, and was named the 2006-07 Outstanding Law Review Candidate of the Year. 

Prior to graduating from law school, Mr. Washington received his B.S. in Accounting from Southern University A&M College, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  His work experience includes four years as a Special Agent with the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation.  He has also worked as a tax accountant for Ernst & Young; as a corporate accountant for Entergy Services, Inc.; and as an adjunct tax professor for Southern University New Orleans. 

While at Loyola College of Law, Mr. Washington’s article, Department of Justice v. Business Entities: The War of Privilege, was published in the Loyola Law Review, 54 Loy. L. Rev. 505.  After graduating law school, Mr. Washington served as the Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Carl J. Barbier, U.S. District Judge Eastern District of Louisiana.  Mr. Washington has passed the Certified Internal Auditor’s Exam and is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and Georgia.

At Ajubita, Leftwich & Salzer, L.L.C., Mr. Washington’s practice focuses primarily on tax and commercial litigation.  He has represented individuals in the United States Tax Court, the United States Federal Court of Claims, and various other state and federal courts.  Mr. Washington has also represented individuals before the State Board of CPAs, and has assisted clients with both civil and criminal Internal Revenue Service investigations.
