William A. Neilson


Mr. Neilson co-founded Ajubita, Leftwich & Salzer, L.L.C. in January, 1991 with Mr. Ajubita.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Neilson worked for five (5) years as an attorney for District Counsel, Internal Revenue Service handling a wide variety of criminal tax cases and civil tax litigation in the United States Tax Court.  In private practice Mr. Neilson has handled numerous criminal and civil tax cases for both individual and corporate clients.  Also, Mr. Neilson handles a wide variety of commercial/tax matters including, but not limited to, mergers and acquisitions, choice of entity, business planning, counseling with other attorneys and accountants in business and domestic litigation. 


Over the years, Mr. Neilson has also counseled clients with regard to estate planning matters including wills and trusts, family limited partnerships, generation skipping transfer tax issues and succession litigation in a variety of local courts.

 
Mr. Neilson is licensed to practice in both Louisiana and New York.  He has been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of Louisiana.  He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the New York Bar Association and the New Orleans Bar Association.  Mr. Neilson is also a Board Certified Tax Attorney.

 
Mr. Neilson received his law degree from Loyola University, School of Law where he was a member of the Law Review.  Also, he received a Master's in Taxation from New York University in 1980.  Mr. Neilson received a Bachelor's of Art degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1969.
